Gun Dog Training

Age	Dogs must be a minimum of 4 months old (must be fully vaccinated)
Focus	Retriever Training – Learning to work with a hunter
Duration	Will vary depending on the skill level to be achieved by the dog.

Content Outline

Jock River Kennels is primarily focused on water fowl and upland bird hunting.

The training consists of:

Basic obedience
Introduction to gun fire
Introduction to water
Introduction to birds
Introduction to boats
Introduction to electronic collar (e-collar) conditioning
Retrieving through the use of pattern drills
Marking downed birds

Jock River Kennels will train your dog to meet the hunt test standards established by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) for one or more of the following hunting levels: Junior Hunter, Senior Hunter, or Master Hunter. (Refer to section 9 – Test Requirements of the CKC Hunt Test Rules and Regulations for Retrievers, Barbet, Irish Water Spaniels & Standard Poodles)

Onsite Facility Features

Open fields: The property includes multiple fields with various cover.
Water: The property includes a training pond and approximately 3,000 feet of waterfront on the Jock River.
Birds: Jock River Kennels raises homing pigeons used for training purposes.

Note: Jock River Kennels has secured permissions to access other private properties in the local area for training purposes.
